          Preliminary Competition (see pictures of the competition) was held at Jazzbones on 6/8/08. The four winners will be playing at the Freedom Fair in Tacoma on July 4th at Duke's on the waterfront. Below is the following schedule for the 4 winning bands.

Final competition on July 4th
Freedom Fair, Tacoma

3:30 - 4:15 = Crossroads Band
4:45 - 5:30 = Al Earick Band
6:00 - 6:45 = The Michal Miller Band
7:15 - 8:00 = The Randy Oxford Band

SSBA President Gary Grape along with Maia Santell helped present awards at the ceremony--Blues Performer of the Year: Suze Sims, Keeping the Blues Alive: Rhea Rolfe, Best Blues Recording: Becki Sue & Her BRD's, Best Dummer: Jeff Hayes, Best Blues Harmonica Player: Paul Green, Best Female Blues Volcalist: Polly O-Keary, Best Blues Jam: Randy Oxford Jam at Tulalip Casino, Best Slide Blues Guitarist: Billy Stapeton, Best Blues Songwriter: Polly O'Keary,Best Blues Festival: Sunbanks, Lifetime Achievement: Alice Stuart, Hall of Fame: Billy Stoops, Best Traditional Blues Act:Little Bill & the Bluenotes, Best New Blues Band: Kim Field & the Mighty Titans of Tone, Best Blues Band: Best Blues Band: The Red Hot Blues Sisters (also the SSBA's Memphis Band) !
